Dogara chides govt’s handling of Nigeria’s steel sector

House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s aide, Mr. Usman Bawa, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bawa, who was at a time a member of the House of Representatives, where he represented Kaduna North Local Government Area at the ‎National Assembly, made his decision to leave the party known in a resignation letter dated July 14, and sent to the APC chairman in his local government.

Dogara in 2015 appointed Bawa as a Special Adviser to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Special‎ Duties.

“I write to convey my decision to resign as a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) following consultations with my teaming supporters.

“The decision has become imperative to enable me to pursue other courses of life. I seize this ‎opportunity to express my appreciation to the executives and members of APC for their support during my stint with the party,” the letter read.

The development is coming barely two weeks after Senate President Bukola Saraki’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Hakeem Ahmed-Baba, declared his withdrawal as a member of APC over what he called the party’s poor performance.

Bawa, who like Saraki’s aide is also from Kaduna State, did not mention the new party he will be joining.
