Linkage Assurance, Morison, top gainers’ list in Nigeria’s stock market

Nigeria’s stock market continued to plunge after the All-Share Index (ASI) dropped to 54.15 basis points on Tuesday.

Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at 41,510.16 ASI which was below the 41,564.31 recorded on Monday.

Volume of shares traded also dipped, with data from NSE showing that investors traded 305.92 million shares.

This volume was also lower than the 340.48 million shares traded on Monday.

Deals sealed by investors also dropped to 4,969 at the close of market today, below the 5,263 deals secured on Monday.

However, value of shares increased to N3.95 billion from N2.64 billion while the market capitalization was N21.71 trillion.

At the stock market on Tuesday, Linkage Assurance rose to the top of gainers’ chart after rising by 10 percent to close at N0.66kobo from N0.6kobo traded on Monday.

Morison followed with N0.55kobo after its share price rose by 10 percent from N0.5kobo.

Briscoe ended the trading activities with N0.22kobo after recording a 10 percent gain to move from the opening price of N0.2kobo per share.

Champions Breweries also recorded a 10 percent gain to move to move from N2.5kobo to N2.75kobo.

Wema Bank completed the top five with a share price of N0.7kobo, gaining 7.69 percent to increase its share price from N0.65kobo.

NNFM topped the losers’ chart after shielding N0.86kobo to close the market at N7.79kobo. It opened trading at N8.65kobo.

NEM made the list after its share price dropped to N2.27kobo from N2.5kobo per share, following a loss of N0.23kobo.

Niger Insurance share price dip by 9.09 percent after it ended trading with N0.2kobo from N0.22kobo.

Japaul Gold share price dropped by 8.86 percent to N0.72kobo from N0.79kobo.

Multiverse Mining And Exploration Plc completed the list as its share price fell by 7.69 percent to end trade with N0.24kobo.

It opened trading with N26kobo per share.

For top traded shares, First Bank was the most active stock on Tuesday after investors traded 47.76 million shares worth N351.05 million.

Guinness shares were traded at a volume of 37.24 million valued at N732.32 million.

Briscoe was next with 26.83 million shares traded at N5.89 million.

Zenith Bank reported 25.07 million shares worth over N651 million while Sterling Bank recorded 19.99 million traded shares at a value of N38.15 million.
