UCL: Liverpool thrash Porto 4-1, berths in semi-final

In their third game of the new English Premier league season, Liverpool put in a scintillating display to thrash a woeful Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds began their campaign with a 3-3 draw with Watford before beating Crystal Palace 1-0 last week.

Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge scored as they won a third Premier League match in a row against Gunners for the first time in 19 years.

Joe Gomez crossed for Firmino to head home in the 17th minute, and the scorer set up Mane, who cut in from the left and curled home their second goal on 40 minutes.

Salah scored a third after dispossessing Hector Bellerin 70 yards from goal before sprinting half of the pitch unmarked to slot home after the break.

Heading to a win, Salah, in the 77th minute, then crossed for substitute Sturridge to head a fourth.

“We did very well, started well, we were solid, forced them into areas where they didn’t want to be and were devastating on the attack,” midfielder Jordan Henderson said.

Liverpool will play away to Manchester City when the Premier League returns after the international break.
