Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said his side will need luck if they are going to lift the English Premier League title this season.

The Reds, who are currently second on the League table, last won the title in the English top-flight in 1990 – 27 seasons ago.

However standing in second place to leaders Chelsea after 17 games, there is hope that this could be their year, but the Reds coach have said Liverpool will need more than just good form to win the league.

“We play a good season, a really good season to now,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“But you know, becoming champion means you need to play a really good season plus having the luck in the right situations. So not injuries, a little bit of match luck in this game. It’s individual quality in this moment. It’s a coincidence that all this is possible. So you need this
luck.”

But the former Dortmund boss explained that he would do all he can to minimise the impact of the unknown.

“You need to be prepared for this moment. You need to make the percentages of coincidence and luck as small as possible. All the rest needs to be planned and that’s what we do. What we can plan, we do. But still it can
happen that you lose a game like Bournemouth (whom they lost 4-3 to having led 3-1).”

Liverpool this Tuesday are set to play Stoke City at Anfield in their week 18 fixture, as they hope to continue in the title chase this season.
