Liverpool new sign-on Mohamed Salah wants to win trophies

English Premier League side Liverpool FC have officially confirmed the £34m signing of Mohamed Salah on a five-year deal.

The Egypt international represents the first major signing of the summer at Anfield, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp keen to strengthen his squad ahead of his side’s return to the Champions League.

The former Chelsea and Roma player, who will officially join the Reds when the transfer window opens on July 1, says he sets sights on winning trophies for his new club.

“I’m very excited to be here. I’m very happy,” Salah told Liverpool website.

“I will give 100% and give everything for the club. I really want to win something for this club.

“We have a great team and very good players. I was watching the games last year and everyone was giving 100% to win something.

“Everyone can see the coach gives everything. I hope to see that together we can give everything to win something for the club, for the supporters and for us.”

The 25-year old joined the Blues from Basel in 2014 for £11m, but went on to have successful loan spells away at Fiorentina and then Roma, before making a permanent move (to Roma) for about £15m last summer.

During his two seasons at Roma, Salah scored 34 goals and provided 24 assists, and was simply a key figure as Roma finished second in Italian Serie A last season.

Speaking also to their website, Klopp said Salah has “the perfect mix of experience and potential.

“His pace is incredible, he gives us more attacking threat and we are already strong in this area. I like that we will make it even more competitive.”
