Lives lost, properties razed in Lagos as scramble to scoop fuel causes pipeline explosion

A deadly pipeline explosion in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State has left five people dead and destroyed scores of property worth millions of naira.

According to reports, residents of Awori community in Ebule Egba woke up to witness a massive explosion from a Premium Motor Spirit pipeline in the area.

Four other victims with minor cases and one person seriously injured during the explosion have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment following the unfortunate incident.

Reports say the explosion occurred moments after vandals tempered with an oil pipeline in the area with some residents rushing to the scene to scoop fuel.

Fire fighters have been sighted in the area trying to fight the inferno which ravaged hoses and property behind Tantalizers, Wema Bank and former Mobil/Mr. Biggs Abule Egba.

The Lagos Fire servicemen are reportedly doing all they can to prevent the fire from causing more damage with curtailing the further spread to adjoining buildings and also the nearest Filling station top on their agenda‎.
