Llorente shines as Swansea stun Liverpool in 3-2 win

Spanish striker Fernando Llorente netted-in twice for Swansea City on Saturday to help his side grab a 3-2 victory against Liverpool in a thrilling Premier League tie at Anfield.

The 31-year old, who scored his third Premier League brace of the season, led Swansea to winning an away league game at Liverpool for the first time in their history, and ending Liverpool’s unbeaten Premier League run at Anfield after 17 games.

Llorente opened the scoring only three minutes into the second half of the game and added another within five minutes to keep Swansea ahead. But Roberto Firmino struck twice in the 55h and 69th minute to draw the hosts level.

Gylfi Sigurdsson later scored from close range with 16 minutes left, and the visitors held unto the scoreline till the end.

Swansea lifted themselves off the bottom of the Premier League table and dealt a huge blow to Liverpool’s title hopes with the thrilling win.

The defeat leaves Liverpool seven points behind leaders Chelsea, who now have a game in hand, at home against Hull on Sunday; while Swansea have moved up to 17th after only their second win in eight league games.

Liverpool will play Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round next Saturday, before the big one on the following Tuesday – against Chelsea at home in the Premier League. Swansea, on the other hand, have ended their involvement in the FA Cup in the last round, and so, their next game is on Tuesday 31st January, against Southampton at the Liberty Stadium.
