Lobi stars, rangers at Super Cup

NPFL winners Lobi Stars defeated Aiteo Cup winners Enugu Rangers to win the 2018 Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Super Cup title on Tuesday night.

The game played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Tuesday was won by a lone goal.

It was Samad Kadiri who scored by capitalising on an error by Rangers captain, Okey Odita, in the added time of the first half to seal the victory for Lobi Stars.

The forward was Lobi Stars’ top scorer in the NPFL last season.

Rangers finished the game with 10 men as Solomon Okpako was sent off for a second bookable offence late on.

The Super Cup is annually contested for by the winner of the Nigeria Professional Football League and the Aiteo Federation Cup.

The game was played right after the Super Eagles of Nigeria played against the Cranes of Uganda at the same stadium in Asaba.

The Eagles were held to a goalless draw by the vistors.
