Lobi Stars lose at home to Wydad Casablanca in CAF Champions League

Nigeria’s representatives at the CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars suffered their second defeat in the group campaign, falling 0-1 to Wydad Casablanca.

The matchday 3 clash, played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Saturday, saw the Markurdi outfit struggle against their Moroccan opponents.

Mohamed Nahiri netted the only goal of the game from the spot in the 20th minute blasting past Olufemi Kayode, who saved another penalty in the second half.

Lobi had gone down by the same scoreline against Asec Mimosas of Cote d’lvoire in matchday-two, but won their opening encounter at home against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

Wydad now occupy top spot in the group with six points from three games, while Sundowns who defeated Asec 3-1 on Friday sit in second position with the same number of point but with an inferior goal difference.

Lobi Stars are third on the log with three points.

They face Wydad next in the reverse fixture on February 12 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat.
