LP loses lone Senator as Omo-Agege defects to APC

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection which occurred at about 10.48 am, temporarily threw members of APC into a joyous mood.

Relying on Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules, Senator Omo-Agege, hinged his excuse to dump the Labour Party (LP) on the current crisis rocking the party.

With his defection, LP does not have any member in the National Assembly. Omo-Agege was sworn-in late 2015, following his victory at the tribunal, which sacked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker, Ighoyota Amori.

More defections are expected in the coming days.
