Lukaku will score more for Man Utd than he did for Everton -Mourinho

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho has expressed his confidence in the club’s new signing Romelu Lukaku after his goal secured a win for the Red Devils on Saturday.

The Belgium international, who netted 25 goals last season for Everton, scored his sixth Premier League goal of the season to give United a hard-fought victory at Southampton.

He scored 20 minutes into the game as he converted the rebound after Saints goalkeeper Fraser Forster parried his header from Ashley Young’s cross.

Speaking after the win, Mourinho praised the striker’s efforts adding that the 24-year old is surpassing his expectation.

“I knew he would score goals, more for us than he did for Everton or West Brom, that is logical, but I was not expecting him match after match to put the ball in the net,” the Portuguese said.

“He is a striker that is scoring goals, but his work is so important for us and he worked hard like everybody else.”

Meanwhile, Mourinho was sent to the stand by referee Craig Pawson towards the end of the match. Asked why he had been dismissed, Mourinho said: “I don’t know. You have to ask the referee.”

But the result maintains United’s unbeaten start to their league campaign, although they are second in the table, behind Manchester City on goal difference.
