Madrid, Barca stars dominate FIFA and FIFPro Team of the Year

Star players of Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have dominated in the FIFA and FIFPro team of the year at The Best FIFA Awards on Monday.

The La Liga sides alone had nine players in the 11-man team, while one players each from German Bundesliga and Italian Serie A completed the squad. The English Premier League was not represented.

In a 4-3-3 formation, here is the line-up of FIFA XI:

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Lionel Messi (Barcelona) and Luis Suarez (Barcelona)

Midfielders: Luka Modric (Real Madrid), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), and Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)

Back Four: Dani Alves (Juventus), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), and Marcelo Vieira (Real Madrid).

Goalie: Manuel Neuer (who starred for Bayern Munich as they won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal Cup last season).

The team was voted for by professional footballers around the globe through their unions, and could have had ten players from the El Clasico rivals if Dani Alves hadn’t moved from Barca to Juventus over the summer.

Barca’s Neymar, PSG’s Thiago Silva, and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba – who only lost out to Kroos by two votes are the unlucky trio to have missed out on being named in the team again.
