Madrid equal Barca's 39-game-unbeaten record

Spanish giant Real Madrid have equalled the 39-game unbeaten record of their rivals Barcelona after a 5-0 victory over Malaga on Saturday.

Barca had set a new record in 2016 by becoming the first La
Liga side to play 39 successive matches unbeaten in all competitions. But now Madrid only need one more win to overtake the Luis Enrique side.

Zinedine Zidane’s men thumped their opponent five goals to nothing, thanks to goals by Isco (brace), Ronaldo, Benzema and Casemiro.

Madrid forward and World best footballer Cristiano Ronaldo posed with his fourth Ballon d’Or trophy before the start of the match, and scored a goal before half-time to show for it.

The win puts Madrid six points clear at the top of La Liga, but second-placed Barcelona can close that gap when they face Villarreal on Sunday.
