Madrid working hard for ‘important’ UCL trophy -Ronaldo

Following their ouster in the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo believes the club can still have a successful season if they can win the Champions League trophy.

Zinedine Zidane’s side were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Leganes on Wednesday and they sit 19 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona having lost four times in the league this season.

“If we can win the Champions League, then it will be an incredible year for us,” Ronaldo told Chinese football outlet Dongqiudi, as cited by Marca.

“The team have not started strongly in the league and we are all disappointed, nobody is happy, but we must now work hard for the Champions League as it’s a very important trophy for us.

“Of course it will be very difficult in La Liga but we cannot surrender at this point and try to eliminate dropping any more points, all we can do is keep working hard.”

Madrid play Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League on February 14.
