Malaysia, Netherlands, Brazil are top destinations as Nigeria’s exports hit $2.7bn in H1/24

Malaysia, Netherlands, and Brazil have emerged as the top export destinations for Nigeria in the first half of this year.

The Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni stated this at a meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

She said 211 products were exported from the country during the period.

The NEPC chief revealed that the country’s total exports for the period rose to $2.7 billion, indicating an increase of 2.6 percent of the total value of exports compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Ayeni, the top products exported during the period include cocoa, beans, urea, and sesame.

Recent data by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed that exports of agricultural goods from Nigeria to other countries increased by 123 percent over the value recorded in the fourth quarter of 2023 (₦463.97bn), and also by 270 percent when compared to ₦279.64 billion recorded in Q1 2023.

The agency revealed that agricultural products exported to Asia were valued at ₦572 billion followed by exports to Europe with ₦366 billion.
