Man breaks into 51-year-old woman’s house, tries to rape her

An alleged serial rapist, David Victor, also known as “Badoo,” was on Thursday docked at an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for attempted rape and assault. The accused, who resides at Owode-Ibese-Fashola Estate in Ikorodu area, was also charged for causing grievous harm and behaving in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against him. Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Cousin Adams, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 3 at about 2 a.m., at Oremetta Estate, Ibeshe-Ikorodu in Lagos State. Adams said that the accused forcefully entered into the home of one Yetunde Giwa, 51, the complainant, where he hit her with a 9-inch-building block before attempting to rape her.

“Her screaming attracted vigilantes and neighbours who rushed to her aid,” he said. He alleged that the offences contravened Sections 166 (d), 243 and 404 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
