A 26-year-old man Happiness Umaru will appear in court today for kidnapping a 7-month old baby.
The suspect has been under investigation by operatives of the Gender Department of Lagos State Police Command.

On the 16th of March, the Umaru was intercepted by policemen of the Rapid Response Squad at Eric Moore in Surulere at about 10p.m and on interrogation he claimed to be the biological father of the baby but he later confessed that he found the baby at Ijora Railway when he went into the bush to discharge faeces when he was pressed.

According to the Gender Department of the Lagos State Police Command the biological mother of the baby was later found when men of the command visited the scene of the incident.

Recounting her side of the story, the biological mum of the 7-month old baby, Patricia Victor, who is now in custody of her child once again said; “I laid my seven months old baby (Favour Victor) on the bed inside my house at about 8p.m., to buy food for my son.

“By the time I returned with the food for my older son, my baby had disappeared. I raised alarm and neighbours joined me in the search all through the night, but we did not find him.

“I did not know that police officers had arrested the man who stole my baby. Luckily, when they came the next day to investigate the case, they located me.” The baby has been released to the mother, while Happiness Umaru, the suspect, will be charged to court today.
