Man City sign Bernardo Silva from Monaco

English Premier League side Manchester City have confirmed the transfer of AS Monaco midfielder, Bernardo Silva, as their first signing of the summer.

The 22-year-old Silver was part of a superb season at the Ligue 1 champions, contributing10 goals and 10 assists overall for Monaco, and helping to knock City out of the Champions League as they made it to the semi-finals.

City announced the signing on Friday evening after a string of departures yesterday saw big names like Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas and Willy Caballero follow Pablo Zabaleta out of the Etihad Stadium exit door.

Silva can join the likes of Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne in an exciting City attack next season, as manager Pep Guardiola will resume his hunt for a first trophy since arriving the Premiership.

Upon joining the club, Silva said: “It feels great. To be honest I’m now at one of the best teams in the world. To be part of this great club and to have this opportunity is great.

“I’m very happy to be part of Manchester City’s team and I look forward to trying to do my best to help the team reach their goals.”
