Man in Ondo arrested in connection with suspected ritual killing of 70-yr-old woman

ABUJA: 57-yr-old man bags 10-yr jail term for defiling 14-yr-old girl

The long arm of the law has caught up with a man identified as Moses Olaniyi who was arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command over the murder of a septuagenarian.

Reports say the suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of the 70-year-old victim identified as Medinat Ola, who was found dead in her room located at Okeegbe area of Ikare Akoko in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state.

Throwing more light on the incident, a source in the know revealed that the victim’s breast, womb and the private parts were cut off by the suspected ritualists.

Commenting on the incident, the source who declined to be named said; “The deceased was clubbed to death with a pestle by the ritualists in the early hours of today (Wednesday) and a neighbour, who was trying to rescue her, was almost killed by the ritualists.

“The neighbour was living in the house with the late Medinat Ala; she woke up when she heard strange voices in the deceased’s room; and as she was trying to go into the room, one of the ritualists hit her with a pestle on the head. She has been rushed to the hospital. “

The gruesome incident involving the 70-year-old was confirmed by Mr Femi Joseph, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command.

Mr Joseph, said the killing was perfectly done as the assailants gained easy entry and exit from the victim’s house.

“We have arrested one person and we have begun our investigation. We shall get to the root of the matter,” he said.
