A 45-year-old man, Aduragbemi Idowu, on Monday was remanded in Ilesa Prison by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a four-year-old girl with a hot pressing iron.

The Prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in March at about 4:30 pm at Awosuru area of Osogbo.

Abiodun added that the defendant used a hot pressing iron to assault the minor for eating a meal that was reserved for the defendant.

The defence counsel, Mr Ago Emmanuel, had pleaded with the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms but the plea was turned down after the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate adjourned the case till April 4 for hearing.
