The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect named Oni Olohunwa for stabbing his friend, Barakat Taiwo, to death in Ogijo area of Ogun State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Monday said the suspect was arrested on May 5, 2019 after a report at Ogijo Police Station.

According to Oyeyemi, Olohunwa allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed his drunk friend in the chest and back after an argument erupted between them at a party in Ogijo.

Oyeyemi said, “Reports of the incident got to the police through one Wasiu Raheem, who took injured Taiwo to the Ogijo Police Station.

“Men of the Ogijo division, on the order of the DPO, CSP Baba Muhammed, stormed the party and arrested the suspect.

“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he died while receiving treatment.

“His corpse has been deposited in the Olabisi Onabanjo Universty Teaching Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

“The suspect, Olohunwa, has been arrested for culpable homicide.”

Oyeyemi, however, said the state Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, had instructed that the suspect be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
