Man United fined £20k over misconduct against Chelsea

Manchester United have been fined £20,000 by the English Football Association following a misconduct charge on their players in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against Chelsea last Monday at Stamford Bridge.

During the game, United’s Ander Herrera was sent off in the 35th minute, a development that resulted in the Red Devils engaging referee Michael Oliver and Chelsea players.

The Blues went on to win the game 1-0 courtesy of N’Golo Kante’s goal early in the second half.

A statement on the FA website on Friday evening reads: “Manchester United have been fined £20,000 after the club admitted an FA misconduct charge and accepted the standard penalty.

“It relates to a breach of FA Rule E20(a) for failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in or around the 35th minute of their Emirates FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea on Monday 13 March 2017.”

The Jose Mourinho’s side crashed out of the FA Cup but advanced to the last-8 of the Europa League after defeating Russian FC Rostov 2-1 on aggregate. They face Anderlecht in the quarter-finals.
