Man United line up Allegri as next manager

Manchester United are reportedly considering Massimiliano Allegri as a potential replacement for manager Louis van Gaal.

The 64-year-old Dutchman, who is contracted to United until 2017, has previously stated that he is not planning to remain at Old Trafford in the long term.

It has been suggested that the United hierarchy could replace Van Gaal at the end of this season, with the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, Ryan Giggs and Pep Guardiola all linked with the job.

However, according to Italian newspaper, Repubblica, the Premier League side are interested in Juventus boss Allegri, who enjoyed a successful first campaign at the helm of the Turin giants last season.

The 48-year-old Italian, who succeeded Antonio Conte in 2014, led the Old Lady to a Serie A and Coppa Italia double in addition to the Champions League final, where they were beaten by Barcelona.

Allegri also lifted the league and Supercoppa Italia during his four-year spell as AC Milan manager between 2010 and 2014.
