Mane misses penalty as Cameroon advance to AFCON semi-finals

After 120 minutes of no goal on Saturday, Senegal winger Sadio Mane missed his spot kick as Cameroon beat his side 5-4 on penalties to reach the semi final of the Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Gabon.

The Liverpool striker failed to convert the last penalty for his side as he was denied by goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa; and with the advntage, Vincent Aboubakar hit the winning penalty into the top corner to send the Indomitable Lions to next phase of the tournament.

In the other quater final tie of Saturday, Burkina Faso thumped Tunisia 2-0 to advance to the semis, where they’ll play either Egypt or Morocco next Wednesday.

Senegal’s defeat would mean Mane is likely to make a swift return to Liverpool, who suffered a shocking defeat in their FA Cup fourth round clash against Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cameroon, who are four-time champions of the tournament, will play in the last four on Thursday against DR Congo or Ghana – to be decided in the duo’s quater-final clash on Sunday.
