Senegal star, Sadio Mane scored twice as Liverpool defeated Newcastle at Anfield to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Egypt forward, Mohammed Salah was also on target for the Reds, who claimed a 3-1 victory over their impressive visitors.

The victory on Saturday means Liverpool have won all five Premier League games this season, placing them at the top of the table.

Newcastle on the other hand have now lost three league matches, winning just one and picking up a draw.

The visitors started well and got ahead as early as the 7th minute when Jetro Willems opened the scoring.

His fine goal gave Steve Bruce’s side a shock early lead, but Mane stepped up to equalise in the 28th minute before putting the hosts in the lead on 40 minutes.

Salah added a third in the 72nd minute, with Roberto Firmino providing two brilliant assists.

Liverpool have now won 14 league games in a row in a run that stretches back to a draw at Everton in March – the joint third-best winning run in English top-flight history.

Liverpool go five points clear at the top, while Newcastle remain in 16th place, a point above the bottom three.
