Many feared dead as Boko Haram invades Borno village

Tragedy struck along Maiduguri- Damaturu-Kano road close to Auno village of Konduga Local Government Area of Borno when assailants suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect attacked motorists and residents leaving an unspecified number of people dead and many injured.

According to reports, the insurgents who struck at about 7:15pm on Wednesday could have wreaked more havoc but they were repelled by security operatives attached to a newly constructed Military Command School.

An eyewitness who witnessed the incident said; “Hundreds of residents scampered for safety due to the heavy gunshots and explosions being witnessed around the area.

“Some motorists were forced to make a u-turn to back to Damaturu or Maiduguri, as Auno is located along the major Maiduguri-Kano highway following the incident.

As at the time of filing in this report, neither the military nor the police had issued a statement concerning the attack.
