Many killed as suicide bomber attacks worshippers in Konduga

An attack on a mosque in Konduga, Borno State has left no less than 8 worshippers and 10 others injured when a suicide bomber struck.

According to reports, the attack launched by a male bomber occurred at about 5 am Monday morning in the Mainari area of Konduga, in Borno state.

Rescue workers say the wounded persons have been taken to Maiduguri for treatment, while those with light injury are currently receiving treatment in Konduga.

Ibrahim Liman, a member of the civilian militia force assisting the military in the fight against Boko Haram said the bomber took many unawares.

“The male bomber walked into the mosque at about 5:15 am (0415 GMT) while prayers were on and exploded, killing eight worshippers and injuring five others,” he said.

Konduga is about 27 kilometres from Maiduguri, the epicentre of Boko Haram insurgents.
