Martins not signed to Shanghai Shenhua-Sounders

Major League Soccer club, Seattle Sounders öf America, has refuted the claim that Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins, has joined Shanghai Shenhua of China.

Sounders’ general manager, Garth Lagerwey insists the transfer is not yet affirmative despite the player’s absence from the MLS club’s training at the start of this week.

“Oba’s not here with us in this phase of camp. We’ve had an approach from a Chinese club for his services, and it could take a while to have that resolved. Hopefully we’ll know more by the end of the week,” Lagerwey said from the club’s pre-season camp in California.

However, the Shanghai-based club insists they aim to complete the signing of Martins this week while sources close to the player revealed that “Martins is only waiting for his visa to fly out to China. It’s a done deal and he is very excited about it.”
