No less than 2,262 children in eight Egyptian schools have been hospitalised after consuming meals provided as part of a government food program for school kids- a development that has sent parents of the affected kids into panic.
The suspected mass food poisoning according to Egypt’s Health Ministry involves eight schools in the southern province of Sohag.
According to reports, the affected kids developed symptoms after eating the school meals but most of those admitted to hospital have been released.
Egyptian authorities also analysed samples of the meals to ascertain the cause of the suspected poisoning.
The development has also reportedly forced the Egyptian government to suspend the food program for school kids pending the conclusion of investigations into the mass food poisoning.
