MASS KILLINGS: Buhari visits Plateau

President Muhammadu Buhari is to visit Plateau on Tuesday over the massacre of no less than 86 persons in Riyom, Barakin Ladi, and Jos South local government areas of the state on Saturday night.

His visit came after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo visited the state on Monday and condemned the unfortunate incident, said to have been perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.

Buhari had earlier blamed the killings on some opposition politicians, who according to him are hiding under the cloak of herdsmen to commit mischief ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Meanwhile, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has claimed that the killings were retaliatory over the killing of about 300 cows by the attacked communities.

The group vowed to continue attacks on some communities in Plateau State as the missing cows remain unaccounted for.
