Nigerian singer, songwriter, television presenter, publisher, producer and grandfather Charlyboy Oputa issued a warning during a recent interview saying we may soon lose our identity as Nigerians and Africans if the right things are not done.

The entertainer who is considered as one of Nigeria’s most controversial musicians stated that there is need for consistent hosting of cultural carnivals across the country which explains why he introduced the annual culture –oriented carnival tagged: Njiko Carnival at Oguta, Imo State.

Charlyboy noted that the hosting of such cultural festivals will boost the nation’s rich cultural heritage and preserve its value for generations yet unborn.

“Our diverse and rich cultural heritage and values must be kept alive for the next generation, and cultural carnival is one of the best platforms to achieve this.” The eccentric ex-PMAN president said.

Continuing, he added that; “There seems to be no transfer of culture and values from one generation to the other because of modernisation. If nothing is urgently done about it, we may soon lose our identity as Nigerians and Africans.”
