It may take years to lift blockade against Qatar, UAE minister says

The minister of foreign affairs for the United Arab Emirates, Anwar Gargash revealed during a visit to Paris that diplomatic isolation against Qatar by Gulf of Arab states could “last years”.

In his remarks on Monday, Gargash said “we do not want to escalate, we want to isolate”, but insisted that Qatar must abandon its support for “extremist Islamists” before a solution can be brokered.

The comments by the UAE state minister who accused Qatar of “supporting jihadists”, comes as the deadline for Qataris to leave three Arab Gulf countries – UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain – expires.

Recall that Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Egypt and a number of other countries severed diplomatic and economic relations with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting “terrorism” and Iran.
