Mbappe on target as Madrid derby ends in draw

Kylian Mbappe was on target for Real Madrid as they played a 1-1 draw against city rivals Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.

The La Liga clash saw Atletico take the lead in the 35th minute when Julian Alvarez converted a penalty.

Mbappe then netted the equaliser five minutes into the second half to earn a point from the game thereby keeping Real Madrid at the top of the league.

Real Madrid have won 12 points from losing positions in La Liga this season, only Atletico Madrid (16) have recovered more.

Earlier in the day, Villarreal defeated Las Palmas 2-1, Athletic Bilbao thrashed Girona 3-0 while Celta Vigo beat Real Betis 3-2.
