Melaye’s Senate seat at risk as constituents plan his recall
Senator Dino Melaye’s continous stay as a Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District seems to be hanging in the balance with imminent possibility of eviction.
This is as members of his constituency have started mobilising homeward in moves to recall the senator who has been outspoken and sometimes taken very controversial stand on certain issues.
Melaye recently dubbed his All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari as a government of criminals, by criminals and for criminals, summoning it up as criminocracy.
Back in his state, the chasm between Melaye and his state governor, Yahaya Bello, as well as the sole administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, Taofiq Isah, has continued to worsen by the day.
Currently, Isah is standing trial for an alleged assassination attempt on Melaye’s life, which Melaye publicly accused Governor Bello of masterminding.
The senator is also enmeshed in an audio bribery allegation, where he was heard purportedly negotiating bribing a lawyer in hard currency in regards to a law case he has with Senator Smart Adeyemi, who is challenging his emergence as a senator in court.
Some say these issues and some others the senator has involved himself in, warranted some local council development areas of Kogi West Senatorial District to kick start the process of recalling Melaye.

It was learnt that Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Lokoja, Kogi, Mopa/Amuro, Yagba West and Yagba East, LCDs are the ones championing the move for Melaye’s recall.
But the senator, who accused his state governor of being behind the move for the recall, is said to have described the efforts as an excise in futility which will amount to nothing at the end.
Melaye has continuosly insisted, with what has now become his popular quote, that he will continue to defend his people even if it costs his life.
“I will continue to defend the poor and defenceless masses of Kogi State. If I die, I die. We must rescue the state,” Melaye said.

I will be the most happiest person if Dino can be recalled so that people can start appreciating democracy as the government of the people by the people and for the people

If it happens, this will official mark the beginning of responsible justice in Nigeria, but we all know it can never happen. Nigeria cannot change at all.

It can happen. The only thing in life that is constant is change.

It can’t. Dino knows how to silence the constituent members with good money. You can see that, he is confident to call it a futile effort.

Lawmakers are not supposed to be noise makers, but in Nigeria, they are and senator Melaye is a very good example of the multiple noisemakers we call lawmakers. This man has caused more controversies than development with his post in the house.

How he even became a Senator of the FGN beats me. The man has always shown strong traits of irresponsibility and hooliganism from his days at the House of Representatives.

That’s because people do vote for the wrong candidates
