Mental alertness, determination gave us victory over Zambia  —Mikel

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi says mental alertness and determination was very instrumental to earning the team the three points against Zambia in Ndola.

The Eagles secured a 2-1 win over the Chipolopolo of Zambia in an African group qualifier for the Russia 2018 World Cup on Sunday.

Mikel said the entire team played for all three points and was happy the team won

“It was a very tough match for us but we got the result we wanted. That is very vital. We look forward to other matches with the same spirit of winning,” he said.

The Chelsea player stressed that the weather affected the team but they stood firm to win.

Mikel added were determined despite the severe weather condition.

The weather was 34 degrees Celsius when the match started at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium in Ndola Zambia.
