Mercy Aigbe drags man to court over stolen phone

A 38-years-old Adenowo Idowu, has fallen on the wrong side of the law as he was arraigned by the Nigerian police on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing of a blackberry smartphone reportedly worth N370, 000 belonging to Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe.

Police prosecutor, Corporal Una Michael said the defendant conspired with one other person who is still at large to commit the crime punishable under sections 309 and 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos state.

Mercy Aigbe made her appearance in the person of Mr. C.O Alonge.

When the charge was read to Adenowo he pleaded not guilty and moments later the presiding magistrate in Ikeja Court 12, Mrs. A.O Gbajumo asked if any item was recovered from the accused but the answer was in the negative.

Adenowo’s counsel, Akintunde Salami, leading Mrs. E.N Ubekile, pleaded that the court release the suspect on bail in the most liberal terms.

Mrs. Gbajumo, granted bail to the suspect in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till November 11, 2015 for mention.

It was however ordered that Idowu be remanded in prison until his bail conditions are met.
