Lanre Gentry begs Mercy Aigbe to drop battery case, reports say

Eight days after being jailed, Lanre Gentry, the hotelier husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has been freed from prison and has returned home after perfecting his bail conditions.

Lanre who will return to court on Wednesday the 17th of May 2017 was to be released a day earlier but a Lagos Magistrates conference held two days ago stalled his release from Kirikiri prison.

Mercy’s husband who appeared before Magistrate Mrs O Aje- Afunwa Ogba of the Ikeja Magistrate court last Tuesday over charges of assault and domestic violence leveled against him by his wife, was granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in the like sum.

However, he could face up to three years in prison if found guilty of the charges leveled against him.

The hotelier who has been charged on three counts of domestic violence, assault, and threat to life could spend that much time in prison if the court finds him guilty after his wife accused him of battery and claimed that she has been enduring an abusive marriage.
