Police dismiss 3 officers who raided Clark’s home, but Nigerians ask for more

As the lingering heated dispute between the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, and Senator Isah Misau continues, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has invited the senator who is Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, to appear before its special panel investigating allegations of special promotions in the Nigeria Police Force.

The senator is expected to appear before the panel on September 6.

This summon is sequel to the declaration of the Nigeria Police Force on August 27 that Misau was a deserter, having allegedly failed to properly retire from the Force.

It also accused of him of being in possession of a forged retirement letter.

The Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, announced in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, that the invitation letter was signed by the Chairman of the Special Panel, retired Justice O. Adekeye.

He said that the immediate issue for investigation was the authenticity or otherwise of the two letters of retirement supposedly to have emanated from the commission.

Ani said that the commission received correspondence from the Nigeria Police Force Special Investigation Panel (SIP) on August 24 relating to Misau’s retirement.

“The Police Service Commission, the only organ saddled with the statutory responsibility of issuing letters of retirement to all Police Officers except the IGP, has a vital role to play in determining the authenticity of this letter”, he said.

He said Misau was expected to appear before the panel with the original copy of his letter of retirement for authentication.
