Nadal wins 10th Barcelona Open title

Tennis great Rafael Nadal has continued his fine start to 2017 with a comfortable victory over Jack Sock in the quarter-final of the Miami Open to set up a last-4 clash with Fabio Fognini.

The Spaniard made light work of the American, who was a break up at the start of the second set, winning 6-2 6-3 to secure his place in the semi-finals.

To battle him in the next round is Italian Fognini, the only remaining unseeded player in the draw, who stunned second seed Kei Nishikori.

“I know him very well and he knows me very well,” Nadal said after his win over Sock.

“We played a few times and he’s beaten me a couple of times, too. It’s a tough match.

“He’s playing well, so it will be a good challenge. I need to play my best, keep playing aggressive like I did today and hope to have my chances.”

Nadal’s semi-final clash with Fognini will take place Friday.
