Super Eagles’ captain John Obi Mikel has confirmed his move to Chinese Super League club Tainjin TEDA in an open letter to Chelsea fans.

The 29-year-old, who has been in Chelsea FC for 10 years, is the latest Premier League player making a move to China.

Mikel joins Tainjin TEDA, who finished 11th in the Chinese Super League last season, on a free transfer as his contract with Chelsea was due to
expire this summer.

During his time at Chelsea, Mikel won two Premier League titles, four FA Cup trophies and the Champions League in 2012.

In his letter to fans on social media, Mikel thanks Chelsea fans for their support, and claims he has played alongside ‘some of the best managers and players in the world’ at Stamford Bridge.
