Mikel has not signed to move to Valencia - Agent

The Agent of Chelsea ace and Nigeria international John Mikel Obi has denied reports going round in some quarters that his client is set to move to Spanish side Valencia FC.

This is following reports that the Eagles captain has signed a 4-year deal with the La Liga side, and now awaiting both clubs (Chelsea and Valencia) to finalise on who pays a certain compensation the player deserves.

But Mikel’s agent John Shittu spoke about his client’s future in an interview, and had this to say on the matter:

“It isn’t true that Mikel has already signed a 4 year contract with Valencia, this is false. His future will be determined soon.“

Mikel, who has not played in coach Antonio Conte’s team since the beginning of this season at chelsea, has been linked to other European clubs – Marseille, Inter Milan and AC Milan – and Chinese club Shanghai SIPG. But the player is yet to make a firm decision.

However, Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has said he will respect whatever decision the 29-year-old makes concerning his move this month, while stating specifically that Mikel will still play in the National team even if he decides to move to the Chinese Super League.

“I prefer Mikel stays in Europe and play in an European team,” Rohr said.

“If he decides to choose the money of China, then we must respect that.

“If he goes to China and is playing well, he will come (to the Super Eagles),” he added.
