MDGJM, in a statement on Monday by its spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja, claimed responsibility for the attack, describing the use of the military to protect oil facilities in the Niger Delta region as a waste of resources that will not yield any result.

The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate has been operating in the non Ijaw areas of Delta State and has threatened to blow up refineries in the region.
