Minister Farouq takes over SIP initially under Osibanjo's control

Sadiya Umar Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has taken over the management of the federal government’s Social Investment Programmes (SIP).

The progamme used to be under Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s control. However, Buhari had in his October 1, Independent Day national broadcast announced that Humanitarian Affairs ministry, would be in charge of the scheme.

In a post on her Twitter handle, @Sadiya_farouq, on Monday, the minister confirmed she had taken over the scheme.

She said that she met with Maryam Uwais, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the president on SIP for crucial briefing on the programme.

She wrote, “It is a busy week. Moving forward, I met with the SSA to Muhammadu Buhari on NSIP. She briefed me on the activities, programmes, achievements and challenges of the establishment. NSIP manages Social Investment Programmes in Nigeria and is presently under the purview of the FMHDSD (Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development).”

Sadiya Farouq was the minister rumours claimed Buhari planned to marry as a second wife last week.
