Timothy Enietan-Matthews (Nation’s capital) …
The much awaited ministerial list from President Muhammadu Buhari may have failed to come, as there are indications that the President could not meet up with the deadline of September 30 he had earlier set.
The president had stated that the list containing ministerial nominees would be submitted to the senate latest by September 30, for screening.
However, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, failed to announce any correspondence from the president at the beginning of plenary Tuesday, suggesting that he does not have any such list with him.
This situation led Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, to seek clarification.
Akpabio raised a point of order, under matters of urgent importance, asking the Senate President why he had not announced the president’s letter containing ministerial nominees.
According to Akpabio, the nation’s newspapers in the last couple of weeks, have been awash with stories of ministerial appointments by the president, asking if the Senate President was keeping the list away from them.

The Deputy Senate Leader, Ibn Bala Na’Allah (APC, Kebbi South) however raised another point of order, explaining that the day was still young and that since the day’s session ends by 12:30 pm, it is possible that the president would still transmit the list of ministerial nominees to the Upper Chamber.
According to Na’allah, since the day ends by 12 midnight, there was still hope that the list could come before the time.
Unable to answer the question, the Senate President over-ruled Senator Akpabio.

However, there was no record of the list of the president’s ministerial nominees having been submitted to the Senate as at the close of plenary on Wednesday, September 30.
