MISSILE ACTIVITIES: NATO Sec-Gen demands strong & unified response against N'Korea

North Korea has continued to draw the ire of many after it carried out its sixth and most powerful nuclear test to date on September 3, with the head of NATO labeling Pyongyang‘s behaviour as “reckless”.

Speaking on Sunday while calling for a concerted international response to the isolated state’s recent nuclear and missile tests, Jens Stoltenberg, the military alliance’s secretary-general said; “The behaviour of North Korea is a global threat and requires a global response, and that of course also includes NATO.”

Stoltenberg however declined to clarify NATO’s position on North Korea’s continued provocation, and instead stressed the need for a conflict-free resolution to the crisis on the Korean peninsula.

“We are now totally focused on how we can contribute to a peaceful solution of the conflict,” he said.

Yesterday, North Korea‘s continued provocation forced France to engage in a discussion with the US and Japan over applying more force on Pyongyang days after it fired its sixth and largest missile.

Reports say that France’s Emmanuel Macron discussed fresh sanctions on North Korea on the telephone with U.S President Donald Trump and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Details of the telephone chat between the three leaders revealed that they all stressed the need for a “united and firm” reaction from the international community towards Pyongyang.
