MISSILE ACTIVITIES: US set to deploy Navy strike group at North Korean peninsula

The United States may be ready to flex muscles with Pyongyang after it agreed to deploy a Navy Strike group near the Korean peninsula as a show of force.

Reports say the Navy Strike group is already on its way as it was spotted moving towards the Western Pacific Ocean as concerns grow towards North Korea’s increasing missile activities.

According to a Navy official, who was not authorized to speak to the media and requested anonymity, the strike group, called Carl Vinson, includes an aircraft carrier and will make its way from Singapore towards the Korean peninsula.

“We feel the increased presence is necessary,” the official said, citing North Korea’s worrisome behaviour.

Pyongyang tested a liquid-fuelled Scud missile which only traveled a fraction of its range into a Japanese sea causing tension among its neighbours earlier this month.
