Mobile telemedicine app offering users second medical opinion launched

Medical tourists and other patients alike can get adequate information about ailments before committing themselves to long hours in the air, and otherwise with the launch of a mobile telemedicine application known as Seekmed.

The application is primarily created to offer users a second medical opinion before making major surgical or complex treatment decisions in the lines of nephrology, cardiology, neurology, oncology, orthopaedics and others.

SeekMed App is widely perceived as an innovative app that offers immediate solutions to some of the existing problems of healthcare and Nigerian medical tourists.

According to Alok Awasthi, Founder of SeekMed, the App wasn’t created to halt medical tourism, rather, it was created to make life easier for users.

“In this day and age, it is impossible to completely eliminate or avoid medical tourism. However, the flight of capital from a patient’s home country could somewhat be contained by leveraging virtual medical tourism services provided by SeekMed,” he said.

“Traveling to other countries for surgeries and other complex procedures can’t be avoided, but the majority of consultations could still be carried out via SeekMed,” Awasthi added.

There are three easy steps involved to use the app. One, download the app which is currently only available on Google Play Store. Two, register and book an appointment with a specialist, and three…you have to pay to proceed with your consultation.
