Monarch shoots IMSU graduate dead in argument over use of football field

HRH Eze Opara, the king of Umueze community in Mbaitoli, Imo State, has been arrested for allegedly killing Uchenna Opara Junior, a fresh graduate of the Imo State University.

The incident was confirmed by the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, who revealed that the king has been arrested and investigation on the matter is currently on-going.
The sad incident reportedly happened on Wednesday evening at the community’s primary school playground.

Eyewitnesses say the shooting happened when youths of the community challenged the son of the monarch, Temple Opara for using the playground they use for their football training without permission.

Reports say the kings son later parted with the sum of N10,000 as settlement to the youths of the community for using their playground but that didn’t go down well with his father who stormed the playground demanding that the youths return the money given by his son.

When the angry king arrived the playground; he reportedly reprimanded the youths for collecting the money given by his son and it was at that time that one of his guards, Atuonye Opara, went to the car and brought out a gun which the king collected and aimed at the youths, threatening them.

His personal assistant quickly stepped in to retrieve the gun but the king struggled to maintain hold of it and it was during the tussle that the king pulled the trigger and fatally shot Uchenna in the chest.
