Morata makes debut as Chelsea fall to Bayern

Alvaro Morata made his debut for Chelsea in an International Championship Cup clash with Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Chelsea were defeated 3-2 by Bayern in the preseason friendly played in Singapore.

Spain international, Morata, who joined the Blues for a club-record £58m last week, came on after 63 minutes with his side trailing 3-1 and won the corner that led to Michy Batshuayi’s late goal that reduced the deficit.

Bayern went 3-0 up just after 27 minutes into the game, thanks to goals from Rafinha and Thomas Muller (brace).

Marcos Alonso pulled one back for Antonio Conte’s side on 45 minutes. Batshuayi then made it 3-2 with four minutes remaining in regulation time; but Bayern held on to the lead and secured the victory.

Chelsea will play their final friendly in Asia on Saturday against Serie A side, Inter Milan, before returning to England for the Community Shield against Arsenal on August 6.
