More deaths in Bokkos community as soldiers shoot protesting youths

At least two people are said to have been killed and many others injured by soldiers serving with the Special Task Force in Jos, who opened fire on rampaging youths.

After suspected herdsmen ambushed and killed Lazarus Agaei, a first class traditional ruler alongside his wife, son and police guard two days ago, another fighting broke out in the same area. Unknown assailants, it was gathered stormed Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau state on Wednesday night to carry out more attacks.

The situation caused angry youths in the community on Thursday morning barricading all major roads leading to the area and also blocked the convoy of the state Commissioner of Police Adekunle Oladunjoye who was there to assess the level of the destruction. It was during the protest that the soldiers shot at them.
